Sunrise at Nandi Betta – An early morning drive !

As happened on 27th October 2013

We left Bangalore early morning around 4.30 in a rented vehicle. We were 18 in number.  First we reached Nandi Hills. Nandi Hills gates open only after 6am. We almost reached at the right time. We didn’t have to wait anywhere. Entry fees are nominal. While on the way to the top, we visited Tipu’s drop. It’s sharp cliff, historically it is said that Tipu used to give death sentence to prisoners by dropping them at that place. Expect a cold weather in the early morning. It can be called as the nearby Kashmir of Bangalore! Around 7 we could see the sun rise. Sun rose amidst the clouds. Sun rise was beautiful. We came down the hill around 8.30.

Cycling the Hills will be a challenging task. Already it is present in to-do list !

Difficulty Level: Very Easy

Additional Comments: It’s a popular places near to Bangalore. Expect large number of tourists. A canteen is there on the hill-top. It is suggested to carry your own food. Perfect break from the city life on a weekend.

After the breakfast at a nearby hotel we continued our journey to Kalavara Hills. Also called as Skandagiri! I will be telling more about that in the next blog post 🙂

2 days and 2 states

So that happened to be the first ever trip with hostelites.

 

We, friends always had an inclination to go for a long trip. But you know, when you’ve more member in the team, it’s not that easy to convince all. Some may like the destination and some had entirely different locations in their mind. But all over it took lots of efforts to make all think the same way. This June we planned and finally and more important, we did!

Ooty, short for Ootacamund (an anglicized name for Udhagamandalam), is a popular hill resort in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. Ooty stands at 7,347 feet above sea level in the Nilgiri mountain range. It was founded in the 19th century by the British, and served as the summer headquarters of the Madras Presidency.

We left for Ooty from Bangalore on June 11th night. Places we visited on 12th morning in Ooty:

• Doddabetta peak

The Dodabetta Peak stands at an altitude of 2,623 meters. It is the highest point in the district, making it possibly the best vantage point around Ooty. It is merely 10km from Ooty so you can simply grab your camera and head straight to the peak, and click amazing pictures of he valley below. Many say that on a clear day, which is honestly not that often, one can see far off areas, even the plains of Coimbatore and the flat highlands of Mysore.

• The Tea Factory

several tree gardens and factories are there. On the way you will get lots of them. They will approach you with free tea taste and offer some tea packets to buy. But be cautious if you don’t have much knowledge about tea, better not to buy from them as the packet tea has not the same taste as they gave you to taste.The spices quality is not so good.

• Boating at Pykara

it’s an awesome experience. Though the rate of boating is little bit high but still it is worthy. Fresh air, good feeling and good view

• Echo Rock

some called it as ‘Lambs rock” naturally took the shape of a lamb. Go through a very small forest and then you can see the rock.

• Shooting Point

One very nice place is that. Don’t miss it. The view is very pleasant..

• Dolphin’s Nose

Due to time constraints in ooty, we missed to visit

• Ooty Botanical Gardens

• Ooty Rose gardens

Night we halted in Ooty. Next day, June 13th morning we started our journey to Wayanad, Kerala.

It was 11.30am when we reached Soochipara falls. Hence we could only visit

• Soochipara:

Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, also known locally as Soochipara, is located at Vellarimala village in Meppadi panchayat. Like in Meenmutty, here too the water cascades down in three steps from a height of about 200m. This is a popular picnic spot and trekking area.

• Pookot Lake:

It is a natural fresh water lake, brimmed with ever green mountains. The weather here is salacious; the scenic beauty, hypnotizing and the nature, unspoiled. Pookot lake tourist resort in Vythiri is the most sought after tourist spot of Wayanad. There is an aquarium and a green house here. Boating facilities was also available.

We wanted to but we couldn’t visit

• Edakkal Cave:

This location of breath-taking beauty is three km from Ambalavayal which is 25 km from Kalpetta.

After the pookot lake, via Mysore we came returned to Bangalore that midnight.

A day at Savandurga

Yesterday, i had been to Savandurga. It’s one of the very nice to place to visit or trek with your friends. For those who aren’t that aware of this hill, here is a brief information about it.

What is Savandurga?

It is a hill in Ramanagara District and the best place to trek. This is also the biggest monolith in Asia.

How far is it from the city?

It is about 50 km from Bangalore.

How to go there?

There are 2 ways to go. One route is via Magadi Road and Other is by going Ramanagara (which is in the B’lore-Mysore National Highway) and then Ramanagara-Magadi Road. Roadway is good except for the last 4 kms to Savandurga in both ways.

By bus:

Take tickets to Magadi and then hire an auto rickshaw. Bus services are very frequent.

What are the things one has to carry?!

• pair of good shoes.
• better if you wear cooling glasses.
• water bottles.
• And most important, take some good friends with you! 😛 coz, they are the one who really make your day. 🙂

You’ll enjoy your day the most, for sure, just like how I enjoyed mine. 🙂 Take time to visit it once, in your busy life.. 😉

Holidays of my first year engineering.

Small Flashback of last 2 months of holidays.

Days are going on.. More than 2 months of holidays over. Who said ‘nothing is impossible‘? I proved ‘nothing‘ is possible… Really…!! I did nothing in this holiday..! ha ha ha 🙂 🙂

OK.. k.. In fact, this holiday wasn’t that boring at all.  Had fun with my friends. Toured to Belur, Halebidu and Manjara fort, etc. That was a total fun-filled experience.

Other than that visited few temples and also my old schools and teachers. How can I forget them? I’m what I’m just coz of their love & affection.

Except these, nothing much I did. May be first time ever in these 13 years of my school-hood,  I got nearly 100 days of vacation. Thanks to RVCE. Autonomous system made it possible. In this, I would’ve done something worth for my future resume. But the fun with friends and family gave me the satisfaction. To say in a line, I’m happy with how my days going on 🙂 🙂
